AI applications are currently being developed and tested for a large number of application areas. But how far, i.e. how mature are these applications for daily, industrial operations? Accordingly, the aim of this article is to describe and evaluate efficiency-enhancing AI application scenarios for the field of logistics. For this purpose, the empirical method "Analytical Hierarchy Process" is used to screen AI applications in order to select four use cases as a result. These four AI use cases are described and evaluated in detail in the form of profiles. The evaluation is based on the criteria of the 5D - Digital Technology Assessment Cycle. In addition to the use of smart wearable technologies, text- and voice-based information inputs via chatbots are particularly worthy to mention. The early detection of inefficiencies using predictive analysis methods (route optimization) and the use of mobile robotic systems (order picking) can also be seen as having high application potential. In view of the change in logistics processes in the course of increasingly AI-optimized production and logistics systems, the use of intelligent technologies can therefore be attested enormous potential.Downloads
