Abstract

Challenges such as increasing product heterogeneity, rising production costs and the demand for shorter delivery times by the customer require the implementation of flexible production concepts. This possibility of changes to the production program at short notice has an impact on material supply processes. It is necessary to develop more adaptive concepts for internal material transport. This paper presents a concept for the implementation of the pickup & delivery approach within an intelligent production. To solve the resulting pickup & delivery problem, a control system based on a multi-agent system is developed. The concept is applied to the supply of manufacturing stations within an exemplary shopfloor production. The developed control system is implemented in a material flow simulation.
