Abstract

Practice has shown that the current standards and guidelines concering floors in small aisle warehouses are not sufficient to guarantee for the quiet running of a small aisle stacker. Studies of the driving dynamics of these devices by means of a multi-body simulation revealed an interrelation between uneven floors and the vibrating behaviour of the stacker. For this purpose, all components which influence the vibrations have to be presented whereas special attention has to be given to the presentation of the floor. The unevenness is divided into two categories: periodical and irregular unevenness.Irregular unevenness can only be handled systematically with statistical methods. With the spectral density function the influential factors of the floor quality can be reduced to one single parameter.Furthermore, this function allows for the use of an algorithm to generate realistic unevenness to be used in simulations.
