Abstract

Plastic pulleys are lighter than steel pulleys. So they bring benefits for the construction, especially of boom cranes. Furthermore plastic pulleys bring benefits for the rope itself by increasing thus service life. This service life benefit was quantified and explained by comprehensive experimental and theoretical examinations about the influence of plastic pulleys to the wire rope service life. To guarantee technical safety an online damage addition is recommended.
