Abstract

Blockchain technology is the future of secure data storage and tracking. This technology has long been used for more than just cryptocurrencies. Many companies are working on and developing solutions to improve processes in industry with blockchain technology. Above all, transaction processes in logistics can be optimised through the use of this technology. Accordingly, the aim of this article is to elaborate where blockchain is already being used and how it can improve logistics processes. We will first give a brief overview of the most important basics of blockchain. The focus of this article is then on blockchain applications that have already established themselves in industry. We will analyse how these systems are structured, how they are used in practice and which optimisations can be realised with them.
